ADK Hospital redevelopment Phase II contract signing

ADK Hospital today signed an agreement for the Phase II of its current redevelopment project. The Phase II includes a 10 story building that will host 35 flats for staff accommodation and a 24 facility for bystanders of people who are admitted at the hospital. This project was awarded to a local contractor, ABC Construction Pvt. Ltd. at a signing ceremony held today at the Hospital.

According to the Managng Director of the Hospital, the aim of this buidling is to provide cheper accommodation facilitites for those who travel to Male from islands to seek healthcare and struggle to find suitable accommodation in Male for the period of stay. Mr Afaal said that the rates for these rooms will be set lower than those at the market rate so that it will be beneficial for the patients and their families. He indicated that this facility will have the provision for pantry, laundry and common waiting area as additional services to the rooms.

He also informed that the 35 flats will be allocated for hospital staff in the professional categories so that it will create more satisfaction and motivation among the staff to seek employment at the hospital. He also indicated that this arrangement will enable docotrs to attend to patients more quickly due to the fact that the accommodation is located within the hosiptal premise.

In addition to the Phase II building, an agreement was also signed with the same contractor for the completion of the currently developed concrete structure of Phase III of the major redevelopment project.

It is envisaged that the contracted works for the Phase II will be completed within the next 18 months and the works awarded in the Phase III will be completed within the next two months.

The contracts were signed my the Managing Director of the Hospital Mr Ahmed Afaal and the Managing Director of ABC Construction Pvt. Ltd. Mr Ahmed Waheed respectively.
