Twenty three nurses complete Breastfeeding Counseling training at ADK Hospital
On 15th and 16th of June 2014 we conducted a two-day training program on Breastfeeding Counseling for nurses working at ADK Hospital. The program was conducted in close collaboration with Health Protection Agency (HPA). Dr Abdulla Niyaf (Master Trainer on Breastfeeding Counseling and Lactation Consultant and Senior Consultant in Pediatrics at ADK Hospital) and Ms Sheeza Wahid (Deputy nursing in-charge of NICU at IGMH) facilitated the training.
The training composed of classroom learning, skills acquisition, audiovisual demonstrations, role-play and practical exposure in the wards.
A total of 23 nurses from various areas of clinical care including LR, OT, Private wards, General ward and NICU at the hospital successfully completed the training.
We are confident that this training would help our nurses in promoting, protecting and supporting breastfeeding in newborn babies delivered and seeking care at ADK Hospital.
