Road Safety Fair 2022

Road safety fair was an event held by Health Protection Agency (HPA) on 17th June 2022 at Hulhumale Ruhgandu 2. This fair was inaugurated by Vice President Faisal Naseem. Several establishments took part in this fair including ADK, IGMH, Male City council, Hulhumale Hospital, Ministry of transport and civil aviation, Racing Association of The Maldives, WHO Maldives, Handy Water and Maldives Police Service.
The theme for this year was #love30 to build #streetsforlife. The Purpose of this fair was to raise awareness on road safety guidelines. Limiting the speed to 30KM/H to save lives in urban areas.
A skit was presented by the ER team of ADK Hospital. This skit showed a scenario where a citizen had met with cycle accident. Important points of this skit included:
-Actions a bystander must take
-Type of information the bystander must give to the paramedics
-How the paramedics takes action to save a patient’s life
-The importance of First-aid
Each stall from every establishment were decorated in a way that represented this theme. Activates were also arranged in a way that were educational to the people that visited the stalls on the importance of road safety.
By the end of the fair, a lucky draw was held to reward 54 helmets to different contestants.
