Improving together: the journey to improve your healthcare experience - April 8, 2016
The Hospital held a very successful public event on the occasion of its 29th Anniversary. The event themed at “improving together: the journey to improve your healthcare experience” was held on 8th April 2016 at Artificial Beach. The public showed an overwhelming support to the event with over 2000 visitors within the 6 hours the event was conducted.
The aim of this event is to provide public awareness through interacting with people. The event will be filled with a number of specialized service clinic settings where visitors can interact with specialists and super specialists one on one and also undergo some screening and scanning procedures. In addition, a number of other clinical information sessions were conducted during the event. Also activities for kids and families including games, live experience of ambulance services and ICU services as well as food and live cooking stations were made available at the event site.
During the event, a good number of services were offered and a significant number of visitors sought services from the different specialty services available at the event. A total of 592 specialist medical consultations and 86 imaging studies were provided at the event. Consultations in other allied health areas such as nutrition and dietetics, language and speech pathology were also provided at the event. In addition to this, 398 people were screened for blood sugar and 38 cases were identified as needing continuous sugar monitoring to whom free glucometers were distributed. Furthermore, the customer relations counter conducted a social media corner where three people were slected as lucky winners in a draw for contributing to ADK Hospital's social media platforms. Two dental whitening packages and a full medical check up was provided for the winners of the draw.
The Minister of Health, Ms Iruthisham Adam, officially inaugurated the event. In her inaugural speech, she highlighted the importance of an event like this and also highlighted the fact this was the first healthcare event of this kind that was held in the country.
